Cancellations for

Rain, Snow, Wind, Cold, Heat, and Severe Weather

Base Policy:

  • We review weather every day at 7am via Accuweather.

  • Clients should expect to be notified, at a minimum, by 8am the day of work being scheduled if rescheduling is necessary.

    • We otherwise proactively reschedule if work is scheduled on a high-confidence weather day.

      • Our schedule includes time to promptly reschedule weather related cancellations.

  • Interior windows may still be cleaned, with notice, on days where weather cancellations are otherwise in effect.

  1. Rain

We will not work on days rain confidence is over ~30%. If rain should start while on site, progress is decided on a case by case basis. Light, brief rain generally will allow work to continue at the desired level of quality.

  2. Snow

We will not work on days snow confidence is over 6in forecast. If snow should start while on site, progress is decided on a case by case basis. Snow does not impact quality of work in the same way rain does, and therefore becomes more of a travel and temperature issue.

  3. Wind

Wind is not often thought of as a reason to cancel outdoor work. In certain access situations, it is a key factor, such as rope access. All jobsites with technical access shall be deferred to judgement of the relevant safety personnel onsite, on a case by case basis.

On the ground: some buildings have unique designs that, on windy days, while posing no safety threat, make quality cleaning impossible. Wind can catch dirty water as a window is being cleaned and fling it back up above the area previously cleaned or onto adjacent windows, rendering a 1 step forward-2 steps back effect. Cancellations due to this issue are rare, but can exist due to certain building designs creating unique air currents.

  4. Cold

We believe windows are best cleaned above approximately 30°F. We cancel cleaning if the high temp is not at least 30°F. While it is possible to clean below these temperatures with chemical additives, squeegee rubber becomes too stiff to clean at a quality we are satisfied with, besides the potential for ice buildup in all the wrong places.

  5. Heat

If the temperature index reaches 102°F, work may be cancelled on a case by case basis.

  6. Severe Weather Threats

We follow applicable agency guidelines in the event of any severe weather threat. Judgement shall thereafter be deferred to the relevant safety personnel onsite.
